Sketch for a Marxist Interpretation of Literature (1937)

This article appeared in a collection edited by C. Day Lewis entitled The Mind in Chains: Socialism and the Cultural Revolution, which contained contributions by many of the leading left-wing writers of the day. Upward later felt that some of his argument was rather crude.
